Summer Outreach Training Course (SOTC)
Do you want to serve God among children?
Are you interested in reaching boys and girls in 5 Day Clubs?
Then the Summer Outreach Training Course is for you!
What are the entry requirements?
- be a born again Christian and seeking to live for God
- be in agreement with the CEF Statement of Faith
- be at least 16 years old on 30th June
When is it?
In the Republic of Ireland - TBC in Oceanview Camp centre
Northern Ireland: 25th June - 2nd July 2010 in Seaview Camp centre
How much does it cost?
In the Republic of Ireland: TBC
In Northern Ireland: £80
What's involved?
The course consists of lectures and practical demonstrations, with prayer, praise and study times. But there's free time too - which could include the odd game of volleyball or some shopping!
Subjects studied include:
- Biblical basis for evangelising children
- preparing and presenting a Bible lesson
- what is the Gospel?
- counselling children
- quiz and memory work
- conducting an open-air meeting for children
To complete the course you have to do some practicals which include teaching a Bible lesson and a memory verse, and participating in a 5 Day Club. But don't panic - experienced teachers are there to help you in whatever way they can.
What comes next?
After training and according to your availability you will be given the opportunity to work in a team taking the Gospel to children in your area.
The SOTC is a great week of teaching, fellowship, meeting new friends, praying together, praising God and opportunities for relaxation.
Junior Summer Outreach Training Course (JOTC)
There is a completely separate 3 day course for 14 and 15 year olds called the "Junior Summer Outreach Training Course." This runs from 4th July to 7th July 2010 in Kilkeel Presbyterian Church Hall and costs £40. Subjects covered include:
- can a memory verse be exciting?
- witnessing with the Wordless book.
This is an ideal course for mid-teens seeking an introduction to serving the Lord Jesus amongst children.
