Making Christ known in Zimbabwe
One of the joys of living in Africa is that
wherever you go people are willing
to listen to the Gospel! We have
been seeking to make Jesus known
in many places in Zimbabwe this
past year, here are some of the highlights.
We have had six training classes
Challenge around Harare and had the joy of
graduating over 100 teachers in our
. Teaching Children EffectivelyTM Level
1 course. We had a total of 540 enrolled and attending the courses, and as a result
new Good News Clubs® have opened and more and more teachers are making
Christ known all over the region.
At the beginning of the year we were teaching in 10 schools regularly, but God has
done a great thing and we are now in 32 schools monthly reaching 45,000 children
CEF of Ireland and making Him known! Just recently we opened two new farm schools with 1,200
children where they had never heard the
Gospel and never met a white man!
A call was given to receive Christ and
almost 75% of the children accepted
Christ. Hallelujah! We are encouraging
the children to go... and make Christ known where they live!
We have had the joy of traveling to the
rural areas each month and teaching in schools and GNCs in Marewa and Mhondoro. These children are very poor
and we have had the privilege of paying
school fees, buying uniforms and shoes and supplying text books to over 2,500
children. We go to clothe, feed and then preach the Word and whole villages
turn up. Christ is presented and multitudes are calling on the name of the
Saviour. We are feeding over 2,500 children each day, in schools and orphanages.
We also provided 17 computers for poor schools to give them a start in this
computer age and as a result Alan had the pleasure of making Christ known to
Miss Jean Porte
the Minister of Education and officials who have looked very favourably on our
work ever since.
We visit 10 Orphanages
in Harare with 600 children
and share God's Word
every week. A new one is
actually a Probation Home
for young offenders. It has
been great seeing 70 young
people come and listen and
receive Christ and see
changed lives.
We have also seen Jesus make Himself known to some
adults here and as a result we have now six full time
workers with us in the ministry. Upwards and Sophia and
their baby Nyasha along with Newton are travelling to
South Africa to do the CEF® Leadership Training Institute
for three months. Perpetual, Sarah and Yemu along with
Shepherd, who used to live on the streets but is now an
enthusiastic volunteer, travel round every day teaching
thousands of children and making Christ known! What a
privilege, what a joy, what a God!
Please pray for the work in Zimbabwe whilst Alan and
Dorothy are on deputation and out of the country
January-April 2008.
